The new devices, which are tightly integrated with enhanced Ovi services and apps, reinforce Nokia's vision of a mobile industry that is increasingly being defined by socially connected, location-based devices and experiences.

Highlights include:

September 15, 2010 Winners and finalists chosen from thousands of developers responding to the challenges to make a difference in the world

London, UK - Today at the Nokia Developer Summit, the company is proud to announce the winners of the global Calling All Innovators contest and the finalists in the Growth Economy Venture Challenge - both with the common goal to create mobile applications, services or solutions intended to save the environment, lift spirits, improve productivity, raise the standard of living within growth economies, and educate and contribute to a healthy lifestyle. The winners and finalists will be acknowledged at the award ceremony, to be held on September 15 in the International Convention Centre (ICC) in London.

For its third consecutive year, Nokia challenged developers to demonstrate their creative and innovative side and design mobile applications, widgets, products, or services that make a difference in people's everyday lives and contribute to the economies of developing countries. In all, 1,500 developers worldwide responded to Nokia's challenges.

"We received a significant amount of interest on a global scale in both competitions. The developers on this year's list are at the nexus of change, using their unique insight to create a variety of well-thought out and innovative apps, services and solutions with the potential to enhance lives around the world. From improving early childhood literacy to sharing news to choosing eco-friendly activities, these apps deliver on the promise of mobile apps making an impact on the social economics of emerging markets," said Purnima Kochikar, Vice President, Forum Nokia and Developer Community. "Developers exceeded our expectations and we congratulate the winners and finalists selected for this year's awards."

Calling All Innovators - The Challenge
Calling All Innovators is an annual app development competition presenting developers with the task of creating apps that fall into four diverse categories: Life Improvement, Eco/Being Green, Productivity and Entertainment. This year, Forum Nokia has teamed up with Sesame Workshop, the folks responsible for the iconic children's TV show Sesame Street, to help support apps relevant to education in the Life Improvement category with the goal to persuade developers to create exciting apps, perhaps using Sesame Street characters, to teach early literacy through Nokia handsets to children located anywhere in the world.

Awards and Prizes
Several cash prizes will be offered in the Calling All Innovators contest. The top three submissions in each of the four categories will be rewarded in cash as follows:

- Grand Prize: USD 30,000
- First runner-up: USD 15,000
- Second runner-up: USD 5,000
- Third runner-up: USD 2,000

Furthermore, all application submissions - finalists or not - will be eligible to win special prizes spanning the four categories. The cash prizes are based on the type of technology that was used to create the app or other award criteria. Judges will carefully test the top 25 submitted apps using one of two remote device access services - either Remote Device Access from Forum Nokia, or Forum Nokia Virtual Developer Lab, powered by Device Anywhere. A panel of Nokia executives judges, will meticulously review all submitted applications and choose the finalists and winners based on the following criteria: quality/functionality, uniqueness, novelty value and innovativeness, usability/creativity, and commercial viability/market potential.

Growth Economy Venture Challenge
The Growth Economy Venture Challenge was inspired by Nokia's CEO. Developers were required to submit their best idea for a new mobile product or solution designed to improve the lives of people in the developing world. Judges look for one idea that has risen above the rest, an idea that changes the way people use Nokia mobile devices, demonstrates how mobility can radically improve the lives of people who reside in areas where the average income is under USD 5 / day, or an idea that recognizes a good business opportunity that also contributes to "doing good" in the world. This challenge is more than just about mobile apps - the winner and idea can be hardware, software or a new service opportunity.

Awards and Prizes
The winner of this contest is eligible to receive USD 1 million in venture capital investment, and support from Nokia to help turn the idea into a reality.

Judges for this challenge will select the winner based on the following criteria: the idea must include a clear mission statement and provide a product or service plan that raises the standard of living or enhances the lives of people in emerging markets, targets a market in a region with per capita income significantly lower than what is found in industrialized nations today (i.e. below USD 5 /day), and includes a viable business model with the likelihood of producing a strong return on investment (ROI) for the venture funding provided.

Applicants leapt to the challenges issued by Forum Nokia. The Calling All Innovators website, which hosts both contests, has received more than 845,000 visitors throughout the submission process for both competitions.

September 01, 2010 Espoo, Finland - Nokia has been ranked No.1 in The Economic Times-Brand Equity's annual 'Most Trusted Brands' survey for 2010 in India, marking Nokia's recognition as India's most trusted brand for three consecutive years. Nokia has appeared in the survey since 2005, and has held the first position in 2008, 2009 and now, 2010.

Nokia's leadership rating over the years in this survey is also an indicator of the dramatic impact mobility has on India's consumers over the years. India has been among the fastest growing telecom markets in the world with an estimated current mobile subscriber base in excess of 670 million subscribers.

September 30, 2010 Espoo, Finland -Nokia's latest entertainment smartphone, the highly anticipated Nokia N8 with Ovi services, has started shipping. Customers who have placed a pre-order for the Nokia N8 in Nokia Online Shops and Nokia retail stores will be the first to receive their Nokia N8. Market availability will vary by country and by operator, with broad availability in the coming weeks.

"With the N8, and the new Symbian software, we are bringi;ng a familiar, faster and more intuitive user experience to the world's most popular smartphone platform. August 17, 2010 Espoo, Finland - In a move to continue driving innovation in its market leading mobile phone range, Nokia today unveils the super slim Nokia X3 Touch and Type, with a unique combination of a touch screen and traditional 12 button phone keypad. As Nokia's first 'Touch and Type' phone, the Nokia X3 allows people to tap quickly on the bright color touch screen, as well as enjoy the familiarity of the full keypad for quick fire text messages and phone calls. Expected to be on sale in the third quarter, the Nokia X3 is expected to retail for approximately EUR 125, excluding taxes and subsidies.

October 04, 2010 Ovi Store submissions nearly double; operator billing leads to significant growth in paid downloads; African developers shine in Calling All Innovators and Growth Economy Venture Challenge

Espoo, Finland - Nokia today reported a sharp rise in downloads from Ovi Store across Africa thanks to the growing number of African developers creating apps, as well as the introduction of operator billing in several markets across the continent.

Data show an increase in Ovi Store usage by consumers and developers across Africa. Since July 1, key findings include:

- Ovi Store downloads by consumers in Africa have grown by 50 percent
- Developer registrations with Forum Nokia are up more than 60 percent
- Ovi Store active users have grown by more than 20 percent
- In South Africa, purchases from Ovi Store have grown 438 percent since operator billing was rolled out in June
- Mobile payment, instant messaging and health-related apps have been especially popular with people across Africa

Purnima Kochikar, head of Nokia's developer activities around the world, said: "There are more apps in the Ovi Store every day and more people downloading them. Simply put, that means more money for developers. And it is not just about the quantity of apps, but the quality we are seeing from African developers that is incredibly encouraging."

This new data follows a strong showing by companies from Africa in Calling All Innovators, a global developer contest Nokia holds annually. AppCRAFT (South Africa), IRWAA and LLC (Egypt) climbed to the top spots in the life improvement category of this year's contest. Also, Virtual City (Kenya) received USD 1 million in funding as the winner of the Growth Economy Venture Challenge. Virtual City's mobile distributor solution, which supports small and micro enterprises in emerging markets, was chosen by a panel of judges as the app most likely to improve the lives of people in the developing world.

African developers are taking different approaches in showcasing their innovation. South African developers are bringing their apps to the market in multiple languages, while in Northern Africa developers are especially targeting Arabic-speaking markets worldwide. At the same time, East Africa is becoming a center of entrepreneurial growth, with consumers pioneering the use of mobile payment systems like M-PESA, Zap, Yu-Cash powered by Obopay, MTN Money and Orange Money, which together have an estimated 12million subscribers.

To support the efforts of developers across Africa, Nokia plans to host boot camps covering Java, Web Runtime and Qt across the region. Espoo, Finland -Nokia's Board of Directors has appointed Stephen Elop President and Chief Executive Officer of Nokia as of September 21. Elop currently heads Microsoft's Business Division. Before joining Microsoft, Elop held senior executive positions in a number of US-based public companies, including Juniper Networks, Adobe Systems Inc. and Macromedia Inc. He holds a degree in computer engineering and management from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, which is his home country.

"The time is right to accelerate the company's renewal; to bring in new executive leadership with different skills and strengths in order to drive company success. The Nokia Board believes that Stephen has the right industry experience and leadership skills to realize the full potential of Nokia. Nokia and AT&T* announced today an unprecedented developer contest with USD 10 million in cash and prizes. Winning applications are selected by Nokia, AT&T and, for the first time, by consumers who can use their downloading power to indicate their favorites.

The 2010 Calling All Innovators, North America contest is open to developers from around the world to create apps for North American consumers. August 20, 2010 Optimized developer and publisher product offerings through mobile analytics functionality

Espoo, Finland - Nokia today announced it has signed an agreement to acquire Motally Inc., a privately-held US-based company. Motally's mobile analytics service offers in-application tracking and reporting, and is designed to enable developers and publishers to optimize the development of their mobile applications through increased understanding of how users engage. The service offering is planned to be adapted for Qt, Symbian, Meego and Java developers, and Nokia plans to continue serving Motally's existing customer base.

"The acquisition underpins Nokia's drive to deliver in-application and mobile web browsing analytics to Ovi's growing, global eco-system of developers and publishers, enabling partners to better connect with their customers and optimize and monetize their offering", said Marco Argenti, Vice President, Media, Nokia.

Motally currently employs a team of eight people.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close during the third quarter of 2010.

Some students are downloading a ring tone off the Internet that is too high-pitched to be heard by most adults. With it, high schoolers can receive text message alerts on their cell phones without the teacher knowing.

As people age, many develop what’s known as aging ear — a loss of the ability to hear higher-frequency sounds.
The ring tone is a spin-off of technology that was originally meant to repel teenagers — not help them. A Welsh security company developed the tone to help shopkeepers disperse young people loitering in front of their stores while leaving adults unaffected. The company called their product the “Mosquito.”
Donna Lewis, a teacher in Manhattan, says her colleague played the ring for a classroom of first-graders — and all of them could hear it, while the adults couldn’t hear anything.

It has the following functions:

1- Phone call management
* a. Reject all incoming calls. In this mode, all of the incoming call will be automatically rejected. It can be used in the time when a user does not want to be disturbed (for example, when a user is driving a car or having a meeting)
* b. Accept only recognized call. In this mode, all of the unknown calls will be rejected; those recognized calls (names are already stored in the phonebook/contacts) will be not affected.
* c. Reject calls from blacklist.In this mode, all of the calls from the predefined blacklist will be automatically rejected, whereas the rest of the calls will not have any effect. An end user can make use of "Manage Lists" function to create the needed blacklist. This can be used in the situation when a user does not want to be harassed from some people.
* d. Accept call from whitelist. In contrast to the previous one, in this mode, mobile only accept calls from the predefined whitelist. All of the other calls from non-whitelist will be automatically rejected. An end user may use "Manage Lists" function to create the needed whitelist.
* e. Personalized call rejection. In this mode,an end user may define personalized call rejections for each of the members in the "Specific List". A user may select "Reject call", "Reply by SMS" or "Greeting" options to reject calls. A user may use "Manage Lists" to create his/her "Specific list".

2- SMS management
* a. "PCG" can help to manage the SMS messages in the mobile phone to make the needed messages visible or invisible in the "Inbox/Sent" of the Nokia "Messaging" application. In this case, a user can hide the sensitive information even your phone is lost, or the user does not want to share the information with others.
* b. An end user may create his/her "Baby list" using "PCG". Once the "Baby list" has been set up, in the next start-up of "PCG", it will automatically scan all of the existing short messages. If a message is to from the "Baby list", then messages will be automatically hidden. In addition, it can also automatically hide the short messages from "Baby list" if it is running. This will eventually protect the user's privacy since others cannot view the SMS without supplying a correct password. A user can set his/her password in "Active mode". When an SMS from "Baby list" comes in the mobile phone icon on the top-left corner of the screen will keep blinking until the user has entered the "Manage SMS" / "Call Records" area using "PCG".

3- Phone call log management
* All of the phone call records from "Baby list" will be automatically hidden. A user can ONLY view the phone call record by inputting a correct password.
* When a call from one of the member in the "Baby list" comes in, if it is not answered, then a small "mobile phone icon" will keep blinking until the user enters either "Manage SMS" or "Call Records" area with a correct password provided.

4- Phone call recording
Whenever a call has been establish (in whichever user interface), if a user wants to record the caller's voice (for example, please tell me your phone number or your home address, then I can record it down), the user just simply needs to simultaneously press "ABC" key(on which has a pen icon) and "+" key, "PCG"will automatically invoke the "Recorder" application in S60 to record the telephony voice. As such, t the caller's voice and the user's voice will be recorded simultaneously. A user may the functions from the recorder to "Stop", "Pause" or "Continue" to record the voice. Note:For those S60 phones, which has the "QWERTY" keyboard layout,a user needs to use "CTRL+A" key combination to activate the telephony voice call recording. Currently, Nokia S60 E61 has the keyboard layout.

5- Automatic call rejection
When this function is used, all of the incoming calls will be automatically rejected. If the caller uses a mobile phone to make the call,then the caller may receive a customized SMS message. This is especially useful when a user does not want to be disturbed; however,he/she still wants the caller to get some information about the callee. A user may choose an SMS template like "I am driving call"or "I am having a meeting now, please do not disturb me"as a reply.

6- Automatic removal of the SMS message from the blacklist
A user may define his/her own "SMS Blacklist". In this case, all of the SMS from the blacklist will be automatically removed when the SMS message come in. This function is very useful when a user does not want to receive those harass SMS messages or advertisement SMS messages.

7- Keyboard autolock
A user may define a time interval for "Autolock time interval"。When keyboard is not used within the time, then "Call Manager" will help to lock the keyboard automatically.

8- Quick key lock function
Except the time when a call is established, no matter whichever user interface a user is currently in, the user may simultaneously press "ABC" key(on which there is a pen)and "+" key to activate the quick key lock function. The benefit of this function is that a user does not to switch to the "Idle screen" in order the lock the keyboard. Another benefit of this function is that it can help us to quickly lock whichever screen. Note:1) For some of the S60 phones, when this quick key lock function is activated, after key lock is deactivated in the active idle screen, a user may not see the left/right soft keys in the screen. If this happens, a user may press any of the numeric keys in the phone to recover this situation, or a user may choose to use the S60 standard way ("left soft key" + "+" key) to activate the key lock function since this ONLY happens in the active idle screen 2) For those S60 phones, which have the "QWERTY" keyboard layout, a user must use "CTRL+A" key combination to activate the telephony voice recording。Currently, Nokia E60 uses the keyboard.

9- File security
A user may use the left and right soft key to browse the directories in the phone, and the user may choose the files to encrypt or decrypt.

10- Auto start enable By default, this application is auto-started.

11- It can hide itself in the task manager and don't let the others know

At this point you can also uninstall it - it is no longer needed.
2) Install 2.GPSd.jar. Run this prior to starting TomTom
3) Install 3.tomtom.sisx
4) Copy the TomTom folder from the 0.Copy.To.MEMCARD.Root.rar
to the root of your memory card.
5) Run TomTom. Choose Yes when it asks you to switch on bluetooth. Go to Change preferences, Show GPS status, Configure, Other Bluetooth GPS receiver, and select the

Nokia Morph Cellphone Rolls Up, Stretches, Cleans Itself

Nokia's new Morph concept phone would use nanotechnology to give it a flexible body with a transparent display that could be re-shaped depending on the user's needs, a far cry from today's solid and chunky devices. Even the electronics inside it would be transparent and flexible, so the whole phone may be twisted and stretched into bracelet shapes or tablet form, and nanotech cleverness means it would even clean itself. Nokia and University of Cambridge launch the Morph - a nanotechnology concept device

New York, US and Espoo, Finland — Morph, a joint nanotechnology concept, developed by Nokia Research Center (NRC) and the University of Cambridge (UK) - was launched today alongside the "Design and the Elastic Mind" exhibition, on view from February 24 to May 12, 2008, at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Morph features in both the exhibition catalog and on MoMA's official website.

Morph is a concept that demonstrates how future mobile devices might be stretchable and flexible, allowing the user to transform their mobile device into radically different shapes. It demonstrates the ultimate functionality that nanotechnology might be capable of delivering: flexible materials, transparent electronics and self-cleaning surfaces.

Dr. Tapani Ryhanen, Head of the NRC Cambridge UK laboratory, Nokia, commented: "We hope that this combination of art and science will showcase the potential of nanoscience to a wider audience. The techniques we are developing might one day mean new possibilities in terms of the design and function of mobile devices. The research we are carrying out is fundamental to this as we seek a safe and controlled way to develop and use new materials."

Professor Mark Welland, Head of the Department of Engineering's Nanoscience Group at the University of Cambridge and University Director of Nokia-Cambridge collaboration added "Developing the Morph concept with Nokia has provided us with a focus that is both artistically inspirational but, more importantly, sets the technology agenda for our joint nanoscience research that will stimulate our future work together."

The partnership between Nokia and the University of Cambridge was announced in March, 2007 - an agreement to work together on an extensive and long term programme of joint research projects. NRC has established a research facility at the University's West Cambridge site and collaborates with several departments - initially the Nanoscience Center and Electrical Division of the Engineering Department - on projects that, to begin with, are centered on nanotechnology.

Elements of Morph might be available to integrate into handheld devices within 7 years, though initially only at the high-end. However, nanotechnology may one day lead to low cost manufacturing solutions, and offers the possibility of integrating complex functionality at a low price.

Opera Mobile 9.5 beta

It's time that Opera Mobile got its due. Long overshadowed by Opera Mini--the light, server-fed browser for Java phones--Opera Mobile is a robust browser built on Web standards (and written with C and C++) that's known for delivering a full Web experience to Windows Mobile and Symbian phones.

Yet even though Opera Mobile has made good as a much closer approximation of the desktop Internet experience, it traditionally hasn't received the same developmental attention as Opera Mini. With Opera Mobile 9.5 beta, released on Thursday, things begin to change.

In many ways, this beta version of Opera Mobile is a fusion of Opera's Desktop and Mini versions. It inherits certain tabbing, searching, linking, and saving capabilities from Opera Desktop 9.5, and Opera Mini's view settings.

What follows is a full hands-on review of Opera Mobile 9.5 beta (also see the video) that takes into account the program's newly redesigned interface, features, performance enhancements, Opera Dragonfly, issues, and what to expect from future beta builds, of which there will be several before the final release. We also won't leave out availability and price.

Interface
The redesigned interface focuses on a small strip of navigational icons at the base of the app and concealed context menus that appear where applicable when you tap and hold. For instance, opening the context menu when hovered over a link gives you options of opening the link in a new tab, copying the URL, or sending the link to friends. The main context menu can be accessed by tapping and holding the white space, whereas the inverted 'v' on the navigation pops up a third options menu.

The icon-based navigation bar is seamless and clean, though generic.

This new design replaces actionable menu items and helps boost clarity while reducing clutter. If you don't see the menu option you're looking for, you know you've mis-tapped. Without the familiar desktop icons, Opera Mobile 9.5 beta replaces the Opera-branded character with a generic sleek and modern look. You decide if that's good.

New features
Only about two-thirds of the final features are present in this first 9.5 beta build (see the road map section below), but already surpasses version 8.65 in terms of the browsing experience--with one caveat.

This new beta version opens in the full-screen browsing mode by default, which lets users pick a starting point and zoom in for closer reading, and entire pages can now be saved for later. Like the 9.5 desktop version, there's in-text search with Find in Page and text highlighting; a Google search bar when you tap to enter a URL, and an address bar fitted with auto-complete that harnesses your browsing history by suggesting compatible sites as you begin typing.

In this case, not all that is newer is better. While Opera retains its support for tabbed browsing, it replaces the true tabbing experience of Opera Mobile 8.65--ironically defined as "windows"--with a reversion to separate browsing windows, ironically called "tabs."

In addition, the beta update appears to have lost some zoom granularity, though in a demonstration at Opera's California office, Sales Engineer Brian Purdy explained that zooming features differ by handset manufacturers.

Performance

Opera Mobile 9.5 beta ditches true tabs in favor of layered windows.

Driving all the front-end enhancements is a new proprietary core rendering engine, called Presto 2.1, which improves on the speed and rendering quality compared with Opera Mobile 8.65. While Opera doesn't yet have benchmarking numbers to share, I will say that the new version performed more smoothly than the old during testing and trounced Windows Mobile's Internet Explorer in performance. While Opera Mobile itself may have gotten speedier, the browser is still only as good as the phone's processor.

For developers: Opera Dragonfly
For developers, Opera has also included support for the open-source remote debugging tool nicknamed Opera Dragonfly. Using the computer's IP address and Opera browsers for the phone and desktop, this cross-platform software syncs the two to test against errors on the phone, not just in the editor or emulator.

Known issues
Beta builds aren't meant to be perfect and Opera Mobile 9.5 beta comes with its share of flaws and foibles. First, it's an English-only build with support for other languages coming later. Users will also notice right away that Flash hasn't been enabled, making this software version video-blind. Installing the application on a memory card may be rocky, so make sure you've got room for the 4.2MB requirement.

Links can be opened, copied, or sent three ways.

Fourth, you'll want to refresh pages after switching between viewing modes, for instance mobile and full screen views. Finally, problems with custom input methods specific to certain phone models will be buggy or broken.

As I mentioned, Opera's center of command plans several more updates to Opera Mobile 9.5 before the final release. Google Gears, Opera Link, and Opera Widgets are slated to join the app in subsequent waves of development. A version for Symbian phones is forecast for Opera's near future.

Availability and price
Starting Thursday, the touch screen version of Opera Mobile 9.5 beta will be available for free for Windows Pocket PC phones running Windows Mobile 5 or 6. A slightly different version of Opera Mobile 9.5 comes preloaded on the HTC Diamond.

Some users have had problems with installing Cydia on Windows XP. This will be fixed in tomorrow's release.

2.0 How to:
First create a custom IPSW using the IPSW Builder.
Click "Ipwner" and browse for the custom IPSW that you just created. This will pwn itunes and allow you to flash custom IPSW files via DFU mode
Once you have pwned Itunes, put your phone into DFU mode. If you don't know how to do this click here.
Once you are in DFU mode Itunes will pop up and then you can hold shift and click restore and browse to your custom IPSW file.
Done!

Important Notes
Remove Winpwn 1.0 completely if you have it installed. Installing over the top of WinPwn 1.0 will cause problems.
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes (currently 7.7).
If you already have service with AT&T do not activate or install Youtube Fix.

UltraMP3 is a music player for your mobile phone.
